The Louvre 2

Todays instalment is also kinda wierd. I saw these stained or painted (Im not sure which) glass panes, they made me think of a comic book. The sepia tone/ almost black and white effect seemed way to contemporary for the time it was made. (post Reformation I think, but I didnt right it down so I cant remember the exact year) However the windows are old, but the artistic style seems very new. Also the way the pictures are in panels like a commic book, I just found the whole thing very cool.

There were hundreds of them, and I spent a long time looking at them all, however my camera battery was dying so I only have 3 pictures which is a crime. You can see in the second picture a more traditional religious layout and colouring to it. Although most of the pictures are family Crests and Hearlds. It is almost like a decorated page out of a bible. The last picture is a close up of one square in a larger window pane, to show you the detail and clour.

More on the Louvre to come through out. Lots of Love to every one!

Wow. Really cool looking windows. I'd love some in my house.

I love the way that art surrounded people in the old churches.

Our modern churches have lost that touch.

Whoa, those are some of the most unique coats of arms I've ever seen (and I've seen plenty). The fish flopping over each other, the dog with a ball, and an arrow through a foot!?! Thanks for sharing this different stuff! And stained glass is SO cool...

These were IN the Louvre? Hmmm.. interesting. Do you know where they came from? They look like the windows would come from a church, but if that's the case, what replaced them when they were moved to the Louvre???

And why were they taken out?

so many questions...
